North Myrtle Beach to Host Free Splash n' Play Event on August 11

The City of North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department and the North Myrtle Beach Fire Department will host a free pop-up water park event, Splash n' Play, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Introduced as a new program for 2026, the activity is designed to help children and families cool off during the peak of the summer heat.

The event will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the NMB Park & Sports Complex soccer complex large parking lot, located at 150 Citizens Circle in nearby Little River. City fire and recreation personnel will supply the water and facilitate the outdoor play area for attendees.

This upcoming session marks the final scheduled date for the inaugural season. The city originally scheduled three sessions across the summer on June 9, July 14, and August 11. However, municipal officials cancelled both the June and July dates because of persistent drought conditions in Horry County. Program organizers continue to actively track county drought levels through federal monitoring resources and will post any necessary schedule updates on the city's official program page prior to the August event.

Splash n' Play is open to local residents and visiting families free of charge. Participants should arrive dressed for water play and bring their own towels, swimsuits, and sunscreen. To ensure safety in the parking lot area, the city strictly requires all participants to wear proper footwear while taking part in the activities.
