North Myrtle Beach Park Rules and Safety Guidelines

North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation outlines standing regulations, parking restrictions, and mandatory weather safety protocols for park users and athletic complexes.

Why this matters locally

Knowing local park rules helps sports teams, families, and visitors avoid fines or facility dismissal while ensuring park grounds and athletic fields remain clean and safe.

The City of North Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Department maintains established facility rules and safety procedures to ensure a safe, family-friendly environment for visitors, athletes, and community members using local parks and athletic fields.

To maintain park facilities and ensure fair play, several items and activities are restricted within athletic complexes. Personal coolers are prohibited inside athletic areas, though teams are permitted one designated cooler in the dugout or bench area. Pets are not allowed inside athletic complexes, with an exception for documented service animals. Additionally, the use of metal cleats is prohibited inside batting cages and on pitching mounds, and soft-toss or "pepper" practice against fences or park structures is not allowed. Players must complete all warm-up activities in designated areas.

General safety guidelines apply across park property. The North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex is a smoke-free facility, prohibiting all tobacco products and alcoholic beverages. The operation of drones, model airplanes, model rockets, or other unmanned aerial vehicles is prohibited, as is the use of bicycles, skateboards, scooters, or other wheeled recreational devices inside athletic complexes. Weapons, firearms, artificial noisemakers, solicitation, profanity, and disruptive behavior are strictly forbidden. Personal tents or shade devices must only be set up in authorized locations, and children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Parking rules are strictly enforced to preserve green spaces and ensure proper traffic flow. Vehicles must park only in designated spaces and are never permitted on grass or sidewalks. All trailers must be detached, parked within a single designated space, and cannot remain parked overnight. Unauthorized vehicles are not allowed inside park gates.

For severe weather safety, the complex utilizes a Weatherbug Lightning Detection System mounted on the main concession stands. When lightning is detected nearby, the system releases one long horn blast and activates a warning light. Upon hearing the horn, all patrons must immediately exit the fields and seek shelter inside their vehicles. Safe conditions are reached 30 minutes after the last recorded lightning strike, marked by three short horn blasts and the warning light turning off.

Park staff and designated personnel reserve the right to dismiss any player, coach, spectator, or visitor who fails to comply with park regulations. For questions regarding facility rules, directions, or operating hours, visitors can contact the park office at 843-281-3800 or the direct park line at 843-582-4870.
