Privacy

Alert subscriptions. If you turn on bridge alerts, your browser gives us a push subscription — a delivery address supplied by your device's push service, plus the keys needed to encrypt a notification to it. We store that record so we can send alerts. It is not linked to your name.

Editor sign-in. A small number of authorized editors sign in with an email address and password. Those accounts exist only to publish and correct stories and to manage bridge settings. Readers never need an account.

Tips and corrections. If you send us a tip or a correction, we keep what you send — including any contact details you choose to include — so we can follow up and check it.

Ordinary server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request information such as IP address, time, and page requested, for security and reliability. We use aggregate page counts to understand what is useful.

We don't sell or rent personal information. We don't run advertising networks or behavioral ad tracking. We don't build reader profiles, and we don't track your location. The app never asks for your device's GPS position.

Bridge status is derived from commercial and public AIS vessel-tracking feeds. Weather comes from the US National Weather Service. News summaries are written from published local sources, government agendas and public notices, each linked back to its origin. These providers have their own terms and privacy practices.

Push notifications are delivered through your device maker's push service (for example Apple, Google or Mozilla), which necessarily sees the delivery request.

Push subscriptions are kept until you turn alerts off or uninstall the app, after which they expire and are deleted. Vessel position data is retained only long enough to compute and review bridge activity. Tips and corrections are kept as part of our editorial record.

You can turn alerts off at any time in your browser or device notification settings, which revokes the subscription. To ask what we hold about you, or to have a tip or correction record deleted, email corrections@barefootresort.app.

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
