Lightning Strike Believed to Have Caused Conway Home Fire

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire on Saturday afternoon after severe weather moved through the region. Emergency crews were dispatched around 3:42 p.m. to a house located on Long Leaf Pine Drive in the Conway area.

Firefighters arriving at the scene discovered damage concentrated primarily in the home's attic. Emergency personnel report that a lightning strike is believed to have ignited the blaze, which occurred amidst a series of storm-related incidents across the area.

Department officials confirmed that the home sustained damage during the incident, but no injuries were reported. Additionally, the occupants were not displaced from the residence following the response by emergency personnel.

First responders noted that this incident was one of several lightning-related fires reported across Horry County on Saturday afternoon as severe weather passed through the Grand Strand region. Residents are encouraged to ensure home smoke detectors are functional and to remain cautious during summer thunderstorm activity.
