North Myrtle Beach Details Monthly Playground Playdates Program

On July 29, 2026, the City of North Myrtle Beach highlighted details for its ongoing Playground Playdates program, a free monthly community offering organized by the Parks and Recreation Department. The recurring event is designed to give young children and their caregivers a regular opportunity to connect through structured fun and informal play.

New for 2026, the monthly gatherings meet at McLean Park Picnic Shelter #1, located at 93 Oak Drive in North Myrtle Beach. The shelter sits directly next to the park's main playground, giving families immediate access to the play equipment after the structured portion of the event concludes. Earlier city updates had previously noted a location at Central Park, but the updated schedule grounds the activity at McLean Park.

Meetings take place on the third Tuesday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. City organizers emphasize that the program begins promptly at 3:00 p.m. with a short, staff-led themed activity, followed by open play time on the playground until 4:00 p.m.

The program is free to attend and requires no admission fee, making it an accessible afternoon activity for local families. It is ideal for pre-school and elementary-aged children, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the hour.

Each session centers around an educational or playful theme presented by the Parks and Recreation team. The remaining theme on the 2026 schedule is "Shark Bites!" on August 18. Earlier playdates in the series featured "Hiss, Hiss, Hooray!" on May 19, "Dinosaurs" on June 16, and "Blast Off!" on July 21.

City staff clarify that these sessions are designed for individual neighborhood families and are not structured to accommodate large outside groups.
