Heat Advisory Hits Grand Strand Ahead of Labor Day Weekend Weather Front

Temperatures climbed into the lower 90s along the coast and reached the mid-to-upper 90s further inland. The hot conditions are expected to persist into Friday afternoon, with heat index values potentially climbing between 105 and 110 degrees. Families with children participating in outdoor afternoon sports practices are advised to limit direct sun exposure.

A weather transition is expected as the Labor Day weekend begins. On Saturday, high heat and heavy humidity will remain present, pushing heat index values back into the 105 to 110 range. As a weak cold front approaches the Carolinas from the north and west, scattered afternoon storms are expected to develop. With significant afternoon heat in place, some of these late-day and evening storms could turn severe.

Relief from the excessive heat arrives by Sunday as the cold front moves deeper into the region. Rain chances will taper off into scattered storms on Sunday afternoon, bringing lower temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s. By Labor Day Monday, the front is expected to push south of the Grand Strand area, leaving mostly dry weather with only a slight chance of a stray shower and comfortable afternoon temperatures remaining in the mid-to-upper 80s.
