Grand Strand Medical Center to Reopen Emergency Entrance Sept. 21

Grand Strand Medical Center will officially reopen its dedicated emergency department entrance on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, at 7 a.m. The entrance, located directly off Highway 17 Bypass North in Myrtle Beach, is reopening following the completion of improvements designed to enhance patient and visitor experiences.

With the reopening of this access point, anyone seeking emergency medical care at the main campus should use the dedicated emergency entrance off Highway 17 Bypass North rather than routing through the hospital’s main entrance. Directional signage will be placed around the property to help guide incoming drivers and visitors directly to the proper entrance.

The updated entrance is part of a broader, ongoing investment by Grand Strand Health into its primary campus. According to Chief Operations Officer Lauren Davis, the multi-phase project is aimed at supporting the growing healthcare needs of the surrounding community. Ongoing campus improvements include expanding surgical capabilities with the addition of three new operating rooms, expanding supply storage space, and upgrading laboratory processing capabilities.

Hospital administration confirmed that remaining construction activities will continue in planned stages to minimize disruption to patients and daily clinical operations. Grand Strand Medical Center plans to issue additional updates as campus work progresses.
