Garden City Streetscape Groundbreaking Ceremony Scheduled for Tuesday

Garden City is preparing to celebrate a major milestone in its ongoing infrastructure and community revitalization efforts. The Horry County Government will hold a official groundbreaking ceremony for the Garden City Streetscape project on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

The event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the Corporal Michael Ambrosino Memorial Parking Lot, located at 115 S. Waccamaw Drive in Garden City. Local residents, business owners, and visitors are invited to attend the gathering to learn more about the multi-phase project and review the planned improvements designed for the coastal community.

While the ceremony takes place this week, active construction on the streetscape enhancements actually began earlier in the month. The comprehensive project aims to address long-standing drainage and flooding issues that have impacted the area for decades, alongside creating visual and structural improvements to the corridor.

Drivers, commuters, and visitors traveling through Garden City should prepare for ongoing traffic impacts. Road detours are currently active along S. Waccamaw Drive. County officials advise anyone driving in the area or attending the Tuesday morning ceremony to proceed with caution and remain alert for construction personnel, altered traffic patterns, and equipment.
