Crews respond to two-acre brush fire in Little River

Horry County Fire Rescue and the South Carolina Forestry Commission responded to a brush fire in the Little River area on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 5, 2026. First responders were dispatched at approximately 12:28 p.m. to the area of Highway 50 and Loblolly Avenue following reports of an active outdoor fire.

Upon arriving at the scene, Horry County Fire Rescue crews identified a brush fire estimated at around two acres in size. Firefighters immediately began operational efforts to contain the flames and stop them from spreading to nearby properties or surrounding vegetation. The South Carolina Forestry Commission joined local emergency personnel at the site to assist in getting the fire under control.

The incident occurred near major local connector roads in the Little River community, which sits just north of North Myrtle Beach along the Grand Strand. When brush fires break out in this area, responding agencies must work quickly alongside state forestry teams to establish containment lines and prevent small blazes from growing larger.

Motorists traveling through the area of Highway 50 and Loblolly Avenue should stay alert for lingering smoke and emergency vehicles operating near the roadway.
