WMBF News earns 12 nominations for regional journalism awards

Local television station WMBF News has earned 12 award nominations from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC) as part of the organization's annual awards competition. The regional honors recognize outstanding work in broadcast and digital journalism across North Carolina and South Carolina.

The nominations span a wide range of categories, highlighting individual journalists, weather personalities, and collaborative newsroom projects across the Grand Strand. In the TV Weathercaster of the Year category, WMBF Chief Meteorologist Jamie Arnold and meteorologist Jenna Greenhill both received individual nominations. Greenhill was also recognized in the Rising Star category, while meteorologist Jamie Arnold and Greenhill were jointly nominated alongside Eric Weisfeld for their social media coverage during "The First Heat Wave."

Photojournalist George Hansen earned multiple nominations, including a nomination for TV News Photographer of the Year. Hansen's work was also recognized in the Entertainment category for "Ukes By the Sea" with reporter Loren Korn, in Photography for "Brass at the Beach," in Original Web Reporting for coverage of the "Monday After the Masters" golf event, and in Special Report for "Touchdown Divas," also reported with Korn.

Additional nominations for the station include WMBF News at 6 PM for its "Snow Show" broadcast, featuring Arnold, Greenhill, Weisfeld, Hansen, and Andrew Dockery. In general news, multimedia journalist Steven Schlink was nominated for his reporting on a Conway police officer recovering after a home explosion. Reporter Jill Schumacher and Hansen earned a nomination in Sports Reporting for "Pursuit of a Perfect Season."

The RTDNAC will announce the award winners on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026, during an awards luncheon at The Speedway Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
