North Myrtle Beach to Offer Up to $25,000 in Commercial Façade Matching Grants

The City of North Myrtle Beach Planning & Development Department will offer funding to local commercial property owners through its Façade Grant Program. The initiative provides a dollar-for-dollar matching grant of up to $25,000 per project to encourage private reinvestment, upgrade commercial corridors, and foster visually attractive storefronts throughout the city.

The matching grant operates on a reimbursement basis, meaning applicants must finish all approved work and submit verified expense documentation before funds are disbursed. A single applicant can receive one grant award per fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30.

The program applies to existing commercial buildings situated along eligible commercial corridors within North Myrtle Beach. Mixed-use properties may also qualify provided the commercial portion occupies the ground floor and represents at least 70 percent of the street-facing frontage. Funding focuses on visible exterior upgrades, primarily targeting the front or public-facing side of the structure.

Eligible work includes exterior painting and approved color updates, upgraded doors and storefront windows, architectural trim, decorative exterior lighting, and hurricane-rated or decorative shutters. Owners can also use funding for permanent architectural art like mosaics or murals, new wall materials, awnings, business signage, integrated planters, and decorative address placards.

Certain projects are explicitly excluded from funding, including new building construction, vinyl siding, interior renovations, routine maintenance, HVAC or roof repairs, and electronic message board signs. Any work completed before receiving official grant approval is ineligible for reimbursement.

Applications for the grant cycle open on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, and must be submitted by Friday, October 2, 2026. The Public Arts Commission will review eligible submissions during its October 14, 2026 meeting.
