North Myrtle Beach Details Logistics for October Drone Show
The City of North Myrtle Beach outlined logistics and site rules for the upcoming Lights by the Sea drone show scheduled for October 10, 2026.

Why this matters locally
The event will bring road closures, beach section restrictions, and parking changes to the Horseshoe and Main Street area, impacting local drivers, residents, and weekend visitors.
On July 29, 2026, the City of North Myrtle Beach released event details and operational guidelines for its upcoming "Lights by the Sea: Drone Show." The free community gathering will feature a live concert paired with an aerial drone light show along Ocean Boulevard and Main Street.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Horseshoe located at 11 South Ocean Boulevard. While the specific performance timing remains to be determined, city officials have outlined key logistics regarding beach access, street closures, and parking arrangements to help residents and visitors plan ahead.
To accommodate event setup, all vehicles must be removed from the Horseshoe parking lot by 2:00 p.m. Eventgoers setting up lawn chairs at the Horseshoe must wait until after 3:00 p.m. or until all vehicles have cleared the lot. Additionally, the drone light show will launch directly from the beach, resulting in a section of the shore in front of the Horseshoe beach access being closed to the public starting at 2:00 p.m.
Road closures will also affect downtown traffic later in the afternoon. Starting at 5:00 p.m., Main Street from Ocean Boulevard to Melt will be closed to vehicular traffic to accommodate overflow seating. City organizers note that the best viewing area for the drone show will span along Main Street from the Horseshoe up to Hillside Drive.
Free public parking will be available at the 1st Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard lot, the 1st Avenue South and Ocean Boulevard lot, public lots off Main Street, and at McLean Park.
