Barefoot Hootenanny Brings Music and River Adventures to Longs Oct. 23–25
River Island Adventures in Longs will host the three-day Barefoot Hootenanny Music Festival from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25, 2026, featuring live music, river paddling, wellness sessions and outdoor challenges.

Why this matters locally
The three-day festival offers Grand Strand residents, visitors and paddlers a nearby inland alternative to oceanfront events, highlighting local musicians, regional instructors and scenic access to the Waccamaw River.
LONGS, S.C. — Outdoor enthusiasts, music fans and river travelers across the Grand Strand will head inland from Friday, Oct. 23 through Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, for the Barefoot Hootenanny Music Festival. Located just seven miles from the North Myrtle Beach oceanfront, the three-day event takes place under the cypress trees at River Island Adventures, 1249 Vera Road in Longs.
Organized around the theme "Where Music and Nature Meet," the festival combines two live music stages with river recreation, outdoor wellness classes and unique outdoor challenges. Music will be featured across the Lip Rippin’ Chillympics River Stage and the Triple Threat Tattoo Woodsy Stage throughout the weekend.
Gates will open at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, starting an afternoon of live music that includes opening acts The Well-Worn Collective and Catfish John, followed by a late-afternoon set from AJ Case and Mac McComb. Attendees can participate in a Community Drum Circle with The Different Drum at 5:30 p.m., followed by evening performances by WALONA and headliners The Goofy Footers. Kayak and paddleboard rentals will be available at the property's Life Jacket Station until 5 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 24, will mark the festival's fullest day of programming, beginning at 9 a.m. with meditation and yoga sessions. Music runs throughout the day with acts including Terry Hayes & The Scrambled Legs, Asphalt & Gravel, Two For Now, Brian Roessler, Peyton Benton, Pickety Split, Will Ness, and Melissa Joiner & The Travel Cats. Special Saturday events include a Charity Survivor Games add-on from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Main Field, and a "Fire & Fortitude" survival session with reality television personalities Nicole and Wes from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Evening activities feature a plant talk, an outpost owl call, and headlining music from The Fitzkee Brothers featuring Jaden Lehman.
Sunday, Oct. 25, brings a slower morning schedule, featuring forest bathing, yoga and mandala art alongside live music from Gravy Crockett, J.P. Taylor, Sawgrass, Kama Muta, and Sweet Sweet. Rentals will wrap up by 2 p.m., leading into the festival-closing Sunday Paddle Jam from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., featuring live river performances from J.P. Taylor and Will Ness.
